| David Baas is currently Animation Department Head at Starz animation in Toronto Canada, in charge of all animation resources, including the currently released Tim Burton produced feature “9’.
The CG animated short "Skylight" is Mr. Baas' directorial debut. "Skylight" is an animated mock documentary about the ecological plight of penguins in the Antarctic, possibly foretelling cataclysmic results for the rest of the world.
Mr. Baas graduated from the world famous classical animation program at Sheridan College.
He was a lead animator and consultant at Alias|wavefront during the development of Maya, now the standard 3-D animation package used worldwide.
Mr. Baas also was co-ordinator and a professor at the Computer Animation program at the Seneca College animation Arts Center in Canada. He was also animation director and a key technical contributor to the 2005 Academy Award winning Computer Animation short “Ryan” produced at the College, for director Chris Landreth.
